Zambia's national anthem is "Lumbanyeni Zambia" (Stand and Sing of Zambia, Proud and Free). It is sung to the same melody as the famous anti-Apartheid song "Nkosi sikelel'i Afrika" (God, Bless Africa).

Samuel Matete is one of Zambia most accomplished athletes to grace international sport. In the 90's Matete dominated the 400m hurdles event, winning medals at the World Championship, Olympics, Commonwealth games and his African record of 47.10 set in 1991 stands till today.

Zambia is the seventh largest producer of Copper in the world. Most of the mining activity is centered in the appropriately named Copper belt Region which lies in the center of the country. The major city in the Copper belt is Kitw.

The Kariba Dam on the Zambesi River is the largest dam in Africa. The dam lies on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and was completed in 1960. The lake which resulted from the dam, Lake Kariba, at the time was the largest man-made lake in the world.
